Sanjay Gupta, M.D, is a practicing neurosurgeon at Emory University Hospital and associate chief of service at Grady Memorial Hospital. A columnist for TIME magazine and a chief medical correspondent at CNN. Oh, one more thing!- He's also the neurosurgeon that performed Brain Surgery on me, on that breezy steel gray morning, February 26th, 2008, a little after eleven o'clock. On that day, I made Medical history. Prior to that, I wasn't sure if I was going to live or die. The doctors told me that I wasn't going to make it through the night.

I was also told that I was going to have a heart attack. I was confined to a gurney and examined then questioned,  like a laboratory rat being dissected!   I had become so depressed at one point,  that I planned my own funeral. I hid behind my deepest depression to maintain fatherhood.  I would go to sleep hoping that I didn't wake up. I was alone and afraid.

The tumor that was found behind my right optic nerve was the first ever found in a skull of someone my age, 48.  It had only been found in babies and infants.  I guess it is true....that God cherishes infants and babies!  The medical profession is astounded by my recovery!  A doctor told me that when ever Brain surgery is performed, seizure medication is mandatory, NO EXCEPTIONS!   Well, I was taken off ALL medication, after only ninety days!   On the day and hour of my operation, my friends held prayer and a candlelight vigils for me in Uganda, Ethiopia, Brazil, Amsterdam, London, Los Angeles, New York and Atlanta. Today, my tumor is traveling the world being used for medical research. Already, my tumor has traveled to Japan, Africa, Cuba and India. 

My doctors call me a living miracle!  It has inspired me to write this book, "Discover The Greatness Within" - a compelling story about my struggle and victory over cancer in the Brain . It's a story of triumph!.....
